Another Israeli hostage taken, Gaza offensive expands

Mohammed Abdel Al, a spokesman for the Popular Resistance Committees, a violent group with ties to the Hamas-led Palestinian government, holds up a poster he said shows the Israeli identity card of abducted Jewish settler Eliahu Pinchas Asheri during a news conference in Gaza City, Wednesday, June 28, 2006. The PRC on Wednesday threatened to kill Asheri if Israel doesn't stop its raid on the Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile Israeli artillery pounded the northern
Gaza Strip on Wednesday as troops and tanks prepared to widen an offensive designed to force Palestinian militants to release an abducted soldier.
I am surprised U.S. media is more concerned with flooding in New England, than with this conflict that can easily spin into all-out war - the media types haven't even given this a catchy screen name yet - like, "Showdown in Gaza", or "Invasion of the Strip" ... this blog will watch the situation closely, this can easily go from simple hostage taking, and tunnel sabotage - into an event of historical proportions ... stay tuned.
